I'm getting pretty lazy at blogging. So I'm going to try to play catch up.
Here are the high points of the last couple months:
Jane got glasses. They are extremely low powered. So low powered that I can't even tell a difference when I hold them up in front of my eyes. Apparently Jane can't tell a difference either because she never wears them.
At least they cost less than the prosthesis that she hardly ever wears...
Emily and Jane both lost the same tooth (on opposite sides) on the same night within 5 minutes of each other. I think Jane was highly motivated to get that wiggly tooth out after she discovered Emily would be getting a visit from the tooth fairy. At least that's what I deduced from the yelling coming from their bathroom.
Jane continues to improve in her hair doing abilities. It keeps her quiet during read aloud time, but whoever said "Beauty is pain" must have had a hairstyle by Jane. She tells me, "Mom! I CAN'T do this without ripping out SOME hair!" Well worth the pain, don't you think?
We recently celebrated Valentine's day. Box decorating is such a big deal. Although my kids will never have anything Pinterest worthy, they do have fun. This year Emily's friend came over to share in the glitter and the joy of box decorating.
I was in charge of Jane's school party, which consumed a week of my life. I planned a craft that was way too time consuming and the games were straight out of Oriental Trading, but I did do one thing right.
The kids decorated cookies. I have supervised cookie decorating before and it always turns out to be a germaphobe's nightmare. The temptation to lick the knife is stronger than any kid's willpower. So, for this activity I decided each kid would get a couple of these:
Individual condiment cups full of frosting. The second I set these babies in front of the kids, their eyes got super big.
Can I lick off the lid? Yes
Is it okay if I lick the knife? Yes!
Can I eat the frosting straight out of the cup and forget the cookie decorating altogether? GO for it kid! (and they did)
Yesterday was Valentine's day proper and I woke up to some great surprises:
Chris drew me a rose. Isn't it beautiful? It was totally unexpected.
And then he topped it off with flowers, a card and my favorite chocolates (Those ain't Russell Stovers).
And since we aren't usually ones to go out to crowded restaurants on Valentine's day, we went down to FoCo with the kids and ate at McCallister's, which was deserted on account of its non-romantic nature.
Followed by some ice cream.
We also saw the new temple under construction. Pretty exciting.
Chris and I will go out next weekend when everyone isn't being forced to be in love by Hallmark and the Lifetime network.
